Our goal was to start a fellowship that desired to be more like the church in Acts. Hence the name Acts Fellowship. The church in Acts did a few things a little different the the modern church. Basically, they “Did Life” together. Our church goals are laid out on our website for more details. But really, the plan is to study the Bible, Fellowship with each other and build long lasting, encouraging relationships with each other.
The need for effective small-group/home fellowship ministries is blatantly laid out in the New Testament. In the New Testament, we find descriptions of early church life. People who regularly met together became close knit, dynamic, and excited about their faith. These original Christian churches met in both people’s homes and the church’s corporate building and experienced close friendship that is often lacking in a modern church (Acts 2:44-47). We as the church have a desire to develop the spiritual gifts of each of its members, embrace the power of the Holy Spirit and foster family based devotion to God, then a home church is the place to start.
